Asymetrical formal

This is one of those crazy ideas I had for those people like me that love to live out of the norm, and be completely different, those people who don't care what people think and the way they present themselves proves it. This formal dress is red satin. The flower design I made up myself and that will serve as the top of the bodice for this fitted dress. The flowers will also be satin or a satin like fabric in red and white but will be layered and constructed so they will stay standing. The asymetrical hem will start mid-thigh and end just below the ankle on the other leg. The white space you see in the drawing is not actually a white space, it is simply an improvised reflection to signify the satin being used. Also the smaller floral print under the bodice top will be moved down to the hip on the same side and will be embroidered in red. The heart in the center of the flowers as well as the curvy lines are also a definate part of the design and will be incorporated into the actual making.

French-inspired

This is one of my current designs, a old-french inspired gown. The body a black velvet with gold functioning buttons down the entire gown, the top and sleeves will be a colored floral lace fabric with red roses and sage stem and leaves, the underside of the skirt will be layers upon layers of a solid white ruffled lace. The hem on the bottom of the dress is actually curved like shown with the improvised peticoat showing. The bodice will be fitted as shown in the drawing and the velvet sleeveless top will be rounded as shown.

Hallway drawing

This is my senior year in high school and in my current art class (AP art studio) I'm learning more about myself and my artistic abilities. Withing the first semester the class covered one-point perspective and had to do our hall-way drawings. I chose and extremely long hallway that opened up into a foyer and then back into a hallway. The light reflecting off the floor is done with my eraser as well as the actual lights in the ceiling. All done in pencil, and even though this is an entricate piece of work, it really wasn't hard to do and I actually enjoyed drawing something that seems so pointless.

Gravemarker

About a year ago my grandmother decided she wanted to spend an entire day with me and do whatever I wanted to do. To me this was a perfect time to go out and see things I may never see again, and what better way to capture what I saw than to draw it myself. That day I asked to go to the cemetary downtown, that is where I found this gorgeous gravemarker. It almost looks like marble and this one grave was completely surrounded by the most unique wrought iron fence. I just sat down and started drawing. I was mesmerized by the beauty of the old marker had to be, and how new it looked and the beauty of the fence that surrounded it. Only using a number 2 pencil I drew exactly what I saw as I sat across from this grave at an angle. Truly captivating.

Guitar Blazer

For this random project I decided to take a plain blazer I had that I never wore and spice it up. I printed out a picture of a unique quitar off the internet and sketched it out on larger paper adding some of my own views to it, such as the points for the tips and not just curves like the picture showed. After attempting to safety-pin the picture the the jacket, I gave up and then realized if i can draw it i can pin it. Just by looking back and forth from what I was doing to the picture I'd drawn I finally finished and ended up with an awesome guitar art piece on the back of my blazer. I can now proudly say I wear this thing all the time, with pretty much everything.

the Vampuker design

In the spring of 2008 I was in Fashion Show that was set up to support a local charity 'Friends of Carolina Hospice'. During the course of this whole thing I was to design an outfit that suited my style and best described me and my abilities and create this outfit out of recyled clothing from a specified thrift shop and eventually model it in the fashion show to be judged. In the left top corner of the picture is my sketch of what I was going to create. I went to the specified thrift shop and bought numerous random clothing item I thought might be of use to me when I actually began creating. A long, plain black blazer; straight leg, black dress pants; a red cottom t-shirt, three purses with chain handles; a wide white snap belt with with embellishments; a hematite heart necklace; a red formal gown; a fleece hoodie; a knitted bag; a black floral church outfit and matching pencil skirt; a multicolor skirt; and platform boots were bought for my design. Slowly I began piecing things together and slowly I began to see my design coming to life. I took the black blazer and cut a good bit of the bottom off in two triangular shapes to create a tailscoat and used the lining of the red formal gown as the red lining for the coat. I used the floral church suit to add the "V" on the back of the coat and the insets in the sleeves. I used the red zipper from the formal gown to create the red "V" on the front of the jacket. Deciding the t-shirt needed more flavor I cut the crew neck out made it a square-neck, cut the sleeves to a "v" shape and took in the slack of the neck to create a shrug look, and make the shirt fit better. I also took in the seams of the t-shirt to make a more fitted look. The white belt I took and painted the while embellishment red. The plain black dress pants just weren't enough for me so I cut them in two different places to create the whole and used the red formal to create the tubed links in the different sections of the pants. I also let out the seam in the bottom-outside of the pants and used the multicolored skirt as the insets for the pants. I took two purses that had similar chain handles and cut the chain to add the embellishments at the bottom of the pants. I then took the last purse and used the chain from that to put on the platform boots. In the bottom-left corner of the picture is my finished design on the dress-maker and on the right is me modeling my outfit in the fashion show just weeks later.

Renaissance Vampire

This renaissance inspired costume was made for my halloween party. I simply referred to a pattern for a renaissance maiden dress in the costume pattern book and put my own twist to outfit. I used a pure black polyester blend fabric for the skirt, sleeves and bodice (under the corset) and bought a polyester corset that was originally purple and attempted to dye it black. As you can tell really only the flowers at the top of the corser dyed and some of the floral print on the body of the corset was colored as well. The original pattern called for an under piece to be put under the sleeves so the holes would be less obvious but i figured since the goal was to look like a vampire and vampires are seductive a little skin would'nt hurt, so I left the sleeves open. The wrists of the sleeves are extrememly open, starting at the actual wrist and falling almost to the bottom of the skirt. Another fix that I made was instead of making an extremely full skirt with eight panels of fabric I decided to make a full skirt that would look nice not only with the rest of the outfit but also with my body so I decided to cut back to three panels of fabric for the skirt. Needless to say I finished my costume just minutes before my party started, lucky me.

Faux-fur cropped top

In the second semester of my fashion design and construction class, I was given an assignment to create a garment via a computer generated pattern made specificly to my imagination and personal measurements. This cropped long sleeve top is designed to be worn over another top. Simply using a faux-fur for the trim and a polyester blend for the body of the top I was able to create a cute square-neck cropped top with tappered long sleeves and fur around the wrists and empire waistline.

Asymetrical Salsa-inspired

My junior year in high school I took a fashion design and construction class. My first construction assignment was to actually make a garment from one of the patterns given as an option by the instructor. I chose to create a blouse, and chose this one for the challenge. I used a black and red, floral print polyester blend fabric for the entire outfit. The draping neck, asymetrical bottom with a slight ruffle and the butterfly sleeves make a perfect mature look for almost any occasion.

3 Birds

In my freshman art class, we were given an assignment to draw three birds. While everyone else did the usual hummingbirds, robins, hawks, ect, I decided to step outside the box and draw birds that we really don't see everyday. Even though I can only tell you two of the three birds, I still feel they are all extremely interesting birds and have a beauty all their own. I used strictly pencil for this drawing and was done in a simple sketch pad.
